Grupo Samay was founded in 2001 by: Paul Davila, David Embleton and Juan Cumbal. They focus mainly in the interpretation of various themes that represent Andean Music and South American Folklore in general. The band has slowly built its reputation through dozens of performances over the last few years in the Seattle area in venues such as the E.M.P. Liquid Lounge, Rock Salt Bar & Restaurant, Juan O’riley’s Restaurant and Lounge, Luigi’s Grotto Italian Restaurant, Fandango, Phinney Community Center, Monroe Fairgrounds (Alpaca Festival), Patti Summers club, Seattle Center (Seattle Folklife Festival), and many more. Their versatility in repertoire and musical talent has allowed them to participate in events that range from wedding ceremonies to nigh-club dance parties.
Amongst the band’s most recent projects are a pre-recorded appearance in public television and the recording of their second album called “Por un Mundo Nuevo” (For a new world).
